Agnes Mae SIMPSON Hamilton
Agnes was born Oct 25, 1884 in Irwin,Westmoreland, Pennsylvania Her father was a coal miner.
Agnes is the first generation to be born in the USA.
She is the 6st child born to this family. She has 4 older brothers and 1 older sister. She has 1 younger brother and 1 younger sister.
Agnes was 14 years old when her mother died leaving a 2 yr old and a 1 year old for Agnes to care for.
Agnes's father John remarried and Agnes has 7 step brothers and sisters.
Agnes is my grandmother. I remember her most often in the kitchen of the farmhouse. My memory is of her with her back to the room, either cooking or washing dishes. She always wore an apron. I can still see (in my mind) those apron shoulders coming down across her back and the apron tying at the waist. She hummed as she worked. She hummed constantly. When I think of Grandma Hamilton that is the picture that first comes to mind.

Marshall Elvin HAMILTON
Marshall Elvin Hamilton
30 Sep 1876
The spelling of the middle name uncertain. I have some documents that spell it Elven and Elvin. I did notice that his son and Grandson use Elvin. I am still looking for original documents to determine the earliest spelling.
